This morning I begin the second leg of my "Anniversary Archive" project in anticipation of this blog's 5th anniversary in July; from now on I will be featuring what I consider my first-tier work, which is also highlighted on the "Top Posts" page. The posts will be featured in the order they appear there, mostly alphabetically but some grouped by subject.
The first post, originally featured in October 2011, is an appropriate kickoff. It is a slice from one of my most ambitious projects (the "32 Days of Movies" video series which featured clips from about 370 films, divided into chronological chapters), and it climaxes with a lightning-fast montage of every film that had been featured up to this point. Later extracted from the larger chapter (which led to some misunderstandings), this montage was posted on YouTube, featured on some other sites, and got an unexpected number of hits at the time. Here you can see it in its original context.

To Become Immortal, and Then, To Die.
Chapter 13 began it. Chapters 16 - 17 shifted it into full gear. Today, in Chapter 19, the sixties come to an end. I will let the images (and sounds) speak for themselves, but would like to note that this is my favorite chapter, in terms of its construction (there are no loose ends, everything adds to the building theme and aesthetic flow), its references (this is to me one of the most exciting, poignant, and fascinating periods in history, cinema or otherwise), and its ending. Or rather its endings...
